# What Does "Fractional" CMO Mean?

Chances are you know what a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) is, but many people have never heard the term "fractional" CMO before. A fractional CMO is an outsourced senior marketing executive who works with companies on a part-time basis to lead marketing 

and collaborate with leadership to accomplish company goals. Fractional executives become embedded in the day-to-day of your company, so they're invested in your success, but at a fraction of the price of a full-time C-level executive.  

 

 For early-stage companies and small businesses, this is an ideal scenario because it gives you access to highly-trained, senior talent that you might otherwise be unable to afford. Think of it as a "CMO on demand" or a "CMO-as-a-Service".
